多伦多市政府在5日发布通报称，多伦多市的花园屋法规将正式生效。早在2月2日的时候，多伦多市议会就采用了花园屋法规和正式的修订计划，但是不久后遭到有人向法庭上诉。6月2日，安省土地法庭听取了多伦多市议会递交的动议，并在日前决定解除上诉。
根据这项花园屋法规，居民被允许可以在现有房屋的后院盖起独立的住房。符合相关高度和标准要求的建房提议，只需要申请一份盖房许可就能够进行建盖。
